Devon Graves

Bonjour!! My name is Devon Graves—I have been known to slip into French from time to time. Being that my fiancé is French, this is understandable! However, I am proud to have grown up in Hebron, KY, so I have been known to slip into a Southern twang as well! I love to travel, meet people, learn, and grow (among other hobbies, but more about those later!).
I began singing and playing the piano as a toddler, and many of my earliest memories are musical (such as performing “Hakuna Matata” in the Goodridge Elementary Talent show as Timon with my older sister playing Pumbaa… I think she got the worse end of that deal…) I began writing songs at 13 and knew that it would be a life-long passion. I chose to attend Belmont University in 2005 to further pursue that skill, as well as study voice, theatre and eventually French. As I progressed in my vocal studies and realized how many incredibly gifted singers there are in the world, I concluded that I was not cut out to have a career as a vocalist. I planned on pursuing songwriting and eventually teaching upon graduating. However, God had other things in mind for me!

I have been blessed beyond belief as a member of Mosaic. I never would have dreamed what an adventure this would be—traveling across the US, meeting fascinating people, writing and singing amazing music, and living in community with my best friends. Most importantly, I am learning what it truly means to love, and that love must come from knowing the love that God has for me, loving Him and walking in His Spirit. Only then am I capable of pouring that out into others. How sweet it is to know this love!
Speaking of love, I am getting married in France in 2012 to the man of my life, Mr. Pierre-Charles Rupin (we met when I studied abroad in Angers, France in 2007-2008.) We are ridiculously excited about this, and God is preparing me by allowing me to live in such close community with two other married couples! When I am not daydreaming about this wedding, I may be found reading (particularly the news. I like to read the entire newspaper. Every page. Apparently, this is weird.) I may also be found cooking, jogging, communicating with my parents or my two wonderful sisters, or throwing a themed party at my apartment that involves dressing in a costume and playing improv games. If you are interested in attending the next one, please let me know! I am so thrilled to see what God has in the future for Mosaic! Until then, I am enjoying the adventure of walking with Him and trusting Him!
